Mmmm…. yummy! Do the Chinese eat any of these kinds of critters? In Congo, usually these hairy forms had some toxins, but I saw one of my trackers take a large number of hairy caterpillars, smoosh them on a large leaf, and scrape away the hairs, keeping the pasty stuff to eat later. I have no idea how they prepared the paste (maybe put in a soup?) or what it tasted like. It certainly didn’t look appetizing.

Isn’t it interesting that the first thing that comes to your mind is food?

I’m sure these caterpillars are eaten somewhere in China (like everything that moves) but I have not seen them sold in the markets.
