Tanzanian Marilyn Monroe Stamps

While I was scanning in some pics from Africa for the previous post, I happened upon one of our old treasures: Marilyn Monroe stamps issued in Tanzania. Does it get any greater than that? I mean, seriously people, this is why we travel! I’m going to have to get a safe deposit box for the originals. 🙂

I don’t really understand why these exist, but wow, what an amazing find! This made my day way blonder!

That’s gold! Not sure why of the reasons behind the stamps, but hey, that’s why we travel – to see the quirky things out there!

Yeah, I guess someone in Tanzania really loved Marilyn. But they certainly stick out as a rather odd choice of stamps for Tanzania.

I have a set of these stamps. I have no idea where I got them. They came with a Certificate of Authenticity from International Collectors Society. Issue # 1458.

I found them in a book I have Milton’s Marilyn. I wonder if they have any value?
