Don’t Miss the Berlin Festival of Lights 2015

Berlin Festival of LIghts

The Berlin Festival of Lights just started this weekend and will continue until October 18. Although we aren’t currently in Berlin, we did want to take the opportunity to draw our visitors’ attention to the dates and encourage anyone in the area to hightail it to Berlin to check out one of our favorite yearly events. Photographers will definitely want to take in the 10-day festival… but don’t forget those tripods because all the action takes place after dark.

If you aren’t in the area or you want to get an idea of what the spectacular event looks like, check out our online gallery which is composed of shots taken during the 2012 and 2013 festivals. Very cool.

Thanks for posting this. I am in Hamburg and I was planning on visiting Berlin next week but I think I am going to move my visit up a couple of days so I can see the end of the festival. Their website shows that they have a lot of different sites to visit. Do you have any specific recommendations?

      Hey Nigel,

We were in transit when you left this comment, so I am a bit late in responding. If you are still on your way to Berlin and you have limited time, I highly recommend focusing on the sites between Museum Island and Potsdamer Platz. You can walk from the Berliner Dom to Hotel de Rome to Gendarmenmarkt back up to the Brandenburg Gate and then end at Potsdamer Platz. There are a few other buildings you will see along the way. If you have multiple nights, make sure you pick up a Festival map and you can hit some of the more interesting sites futher afield. Have fun.
