Varanasi, also known as Benares or Kashi, is India's holiest Hindu city. Pilgrims come from across the country to bathe in the sacred waters of the Ganges. The city represents India in all its extremes. Manic yet serene, colorful and putrid, intensely spiritual yet full of hassling touts. With all its contradictions, one thing is certain - the city is visually stunning.
