Wat Pho

We’re back in Thailand, where all that’s Buddhist glitters with gold. The sacred “motherload” would have to be the tremendous reclining Buddha in the ancient Wat Pho. Actually, the name of the temple is now Wat Phra Chettuphon Wimon Mangkhlaram Ratchaworamahawihan, but I, and most guidebooks, still refer to it as Wat Pho because – well – we don’t have Thai lips.
If 46 horizontal meters of towering gold doesn’t knock your socks off, then Buddha’s huge feet will. Decorated with 108 scenes done in mother-of-pearl inlay, it appears Gautama had some serious soles. Or more likely, the builders hoped his soles might help their souls. Either way, it’s a must-see sight on every visit to Bangkok.

I agree that it’s one of Bangkok’s must-see places to visit. Putting yourself in the shot really shows how huge it is!
