Instead of taking the train to San Diego, I decided to buy a plane ticket. On my way through security I learned that my boarding pass had been flagged "SSSS," which means "selected for secondary security." I was searched, questioned and everything I owned was taken apart and wiped down with cotton swabs which were then placed into a machine to detect illegal substances, explosives, etc. Welcome home!
